**Take hold of this exceptional opportunity to join our Clients esteemed Construction Company as an experienced Commercial Manager.**
- This role reports directly to the CEO & Managing Director_
**Major objectives;**
- Supervising the efficient & effective management of the commercial contractual activities with the Business Unit
- Foster the professional development of contract administration & project management staff in their commercial dealings
- Instigate effective & consistent implementation of the Company's commercial policies and procedures
- Capitalise on the identification of opportunities & manage risks with sub-contractors, consultants & clients
**Key accountabilities;**
- Oversee & promote the Business Unit training of contract administration & project management operatives
- Play a role in the management of contractual & commercial disputes & where applicable direct items to the Business Unit's legal counsel
- Critique tender submissions for exposure to adverse terms & conditions
- Assist in the preparation of subcontractor and consultant contract forms
- When appropriate focus on the preparation & development of JV documentation & pre-bid agreements
- Be forthcoming around providing advice & information to projects on contractual & commercial matters including compliance
**Ancillary accountabilities;**
- Regularly review Company standards due to legislation changes in consultation with the Business Unit Commercial Managers
- Assist to select & short list legal consultants as required
- Be involved in external audits in consultation with the QSE Manager
- As part of a Team review monthly Project financial reports
**Essential Competencies;**
- Offer a solid background of managing commercial risk across Construction & Civil Engineering Projects
- Identify & manage risks with managers and subcontractors
- Always be seeking ways to improve profitability for the business & Clients through the relentless pursuit of business excellence
- Increase profitability through the innovation of handling complex business & technical problems
- Instigate proven & innovative business strategies through effective teamwork both internally and with all Clients
**Qualifications;**
- Relevant tertiary qualification such as (but not limited to) Bachelor of Construction Management
- Successful experience in a similar role for at least 5 years
- Solid understanding of construction industry legal frameworks & contracts
- Superior letter & report writing skills
- An excellent understanding of financial spreadsheets and reports
- Experience with construction accounting software systems - ideally Jobpac
