Join to apply for the Senior Registered Nurse role at Windana

Introduction:

Windana provides connected services for more people in need.

We provide services across Victoria for adults and young people experiencing alcohol and other drug harms, family violence, mental health challenges and social disadvantage.

Our Model of Care puts clients at the centre of what we do to create positive change in people's lives. We work with families, communities and other organisations to deliver trauma informed, equitable, culturally safe and integrated services based on evidence and practice wisdom.

By intervening early and creating purposeful partnerships, we help clients achieve improved outcomes while reducing demand on acute services. And we are influencing policy, practice and research to help shape better systems for clients. Together, we influence the broader system for a more positive and connected future.

Description:

Is this your next career opportunity?

Maryknoll Therapeutic Community (MTC) is a 77-bed facility that provides a safe space for residents to recover and heal by exploring their own life experiences and learning from the experience and insights of others.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct and comprehensive nursing care and individual case management to residents, including nursing assessment and treatment. In addition, the Registered Nurse is a role model and leader with respect to clinical practice. In this role, you will:

* Lead and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Nursing team at Maryknoll Therapeutic Community.
* Mentor and develop a small team of Enrolled Nurses and enhance their knowledge through peer consult and training.
* Conduct nursing risk assessments, noting any pre-existing medical conditions and their treatment plan and monitor these conditions throughout the residents' stay.
* Contribute and participate in admissions, intake and discharge review and process, with reference to Physical Health and Mental Health as Life Domains.
* Contribute to the development of client individual treatment and recovery plans, involving nominated significant others and family where relevant.
* Attend GP appointments with clients and ensure clients understand their health needs.
* Liaise with GP pre/post admission and any other allied health professionals as required.
* Administer medications according to the prescriptions and orders on the medication charts, observing the clinical features and ensuring the medications are having the desired effect.
* Maintain comprehensive client documentation and case notes, ensuring accuracy and compliance and capturing relevant details for analysis.
* Evaluate responses to treatment and report to the treating doctor or registered nurse, any new information, changes in condition, or concerns regarding vital signs and withdrawal symptoms, which might indicate the need for a review of the treatment plan.

What we're looking for:
* 3+ years' experience working within the alcohol and drug sector, mental health or other primary health care environment with an understanding of AOD service navigation with complex needs.
* Demonstrated experience in conducting drug and alcohol withdrawal and physical assessments.
* Knowledge of contemporary standards and evidence-based practice and interventions in AOD context.
* Excellent people management & leadership skills with proven ability to provide clinical supervision to Enrolled Nurses.
* Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural ability to communicate effectively to a diverse group of people.
* Bachelor's degree in nursing & current registration as Registered Nurse (Division 1) within the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Ideally a Certificate IV in AOD or willingness to complete an AOD Skillset.

Join our team to contribute to our life-changing work.

Our people are integral to the work we do, and we pride ourselves on providing our team opportunities to contribute, grow and thrive:
* Contribute to our meaningful work and values-based culture through our Strategic Plan, our quality accreditation, Reconciliation Action Plan and progress towards Rainbow Tick accreditation. We care about everyone's contribution, so you feel connected, valued and motivated.
* Grow through professional and personal development opportunities. We offer regular supervision, goal-setting and individual development plans so you can grow your skills and practice. We also have study leave options, support for obtaining qualifications, career opportunities through secondments, and our Leadership Network.
* Thrive with a variety of benefits to support your wellbeing and work-life balance. We offer additional leave days, a broad range of EAP services, generous salary packaging entitlements and more
