St Hilda’s School, Gold Coast invites applications for the permanent full-time position of Maintenance Groundsperson commencing 07 April 2026.
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, hands-on and motivated Maintenance Groundsperson to join our dedicated and highly regarded Operations team. You will play an important role in maintaining the safety, functionality and exemplary appearance of our School. Working alongside a supportive team, you will carry out a broad range of maintenance, grounds and operational tasks to ensure our facilities are always at their best.

About the Position
The key duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
* Maintenance and repairs of facilities, grounds, equipment and buildings
* Assisting with function set-up and pack-down and moving of furniture
* Operation of machinery and maintenance of equipment
* Collection and removal of rubbish and the cleaning of rubbish bins
* Deliveries of packages to various departments and/or individuals
* Daily leaf blowing of the campus
* Assist with mowing of lawns by push or ride on mowers
* Hedging with motorised equipment
* Use of chemicals, such as paints, chlorine, fuels
* Line Marking to ovals
* Providing support to any of the Supervisors, as required and communicated
* Regular reporting and recording of particular information;
* Participating in meetings and/or training as and when required.
Selection Criteria
* Current Qld driver's licence
* Current Qld Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or willingness to obtain prior to commencement
* Demonstrated experience in grounds maintenance, building maintenance or a related trade
* Ability to operate ride-on mowers, blowers, hedgers and other grounds equipment
* Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Good communication skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
* Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and prioritise tasks effectively
* Knowledge of and commitment to workplace health and safety practices and safe chemical handling procedures
* Physical fitness and capacity to perform manual and outdoor labour for extended periods, including lifting, bending, pushing and carrying
* Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
* Capacity to operate vibrating and motorised equipment safely over sustained periods
* Reliable, punctual and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
* Demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of presentation and cleanliness
* Respectful and professional conduct in a school environment, with an ability to understand and follow child safety obligations.
