Established in 1996, VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria. VACCHO supports and empowers its 34 Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) members to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

Your Impact
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, with a secondary reporting line to the Chief Executive Officer on HR risk and strategy, this is a senior leadership role with organisation-wide influence. You will lead and develop high-performing teams, shape people and culture strategy, and ensure VACCHO's operations are strong, compliant and values-aligned.
You will do this by:
* Leading VACCHO's people and operations functions, including HR, administration and core support services.
* Strengthen and embed a culturally strong, inclusive and values-led employee experience.
* Driving workforce strategies that support engagement, recruitment, retention and wellbeing.
* Supporting and mentor the Executive and senior leaders to build high-performing, accountable teams.
* Ensuring compliance with IR legislation, OHS, risk and safety obligations.
* Growing and support the HR Community of Practice for VACCHO Member Organisations.
* Contributing to the delivery of VACCHO's strategic priorities and organisational foundations.
What you bring
You are a collaborative, strategic and grounded people leader who thrives in complex, purpose-driven environments and is committed to culturally safe, inclusive and trauma-informed practice.
You will have:
* Executive-level experience in people and operations, ideally within the not-for-profit or for-purpose sector.
* Deep expertise in contemporary HR practice, change management and organisational development.
* A proven track record of leading teams through complexity with care, clarity and accountability.
* Strong judgment, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive and high-risk matters.
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust across diverse stakeholders.
A strong understanding of Aboriginal Community Control, and a demonstrated commitment to working in culturally safe and respectful ways with Aboriginal communities and organisations, will be highly regarded.
