Maritime Acoustic Analyst

This role involves utilising advanced software tools to characterise Navy systems and platforms, leading a team of analysts in bespoke areas of interest defined by operational requirements.


About the Job

The Acoustic Analyst is a highly skilled professional responsible for analysing acoustic data sourced from the maritime environment. The job holder will be based at the Australian Joint Acoustic Analysis Centre (AJAAC) and report to the Commanding Officer AJAAC as part of Information Warfare Force, under Fleet Command.


Key Responsibilities

* Preparing complex briefs and intelligence assessments related to Defence and national security issues.

* Interpreting and complying with legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks, including information management requirements.

* Identifying and undertaking research and analysis on Defence and security-related developments of strategic interest to Australia.

* Utilising analytical tools and techniques to develop Defence and national security-related intelligence assessments.

* Building and sustaining strong interactive relationships and negotiating with customers and key stakeholders to deliver tailored intelligence assessments.

* Representing and advocating for Defence at conferences, seminars, briefings and meetings to support the Defence mission.

* Resolving problems using expertise, taking the initiative to identify and recommend alternative courses of action.

* Designing and implementing solutions to issues impacting on the achievement of desired outcomes.

* Ensuring accurate and timely completion of work, sharing own expertise with others and guiding and mentoring less experienced employees.

* Collaborating with colleagues, operating as an effective team member and actively participating in organisational activities.

* Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
