We are a leading organisation offering a comprehensive suite of services to clients and the community across the Barwon, West Melbourne and Wimmera Regions. Providing specialist sexual assault and family violence programs and services, including 24 hour crisis care support, case management, therapeutic counselling, early intervention and professional education and training, we continue to grow and develop our offerings.


Job Description

About the Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre

We are a client-centred organisation, supporting the community throughout Barwon, Wimmera, and the South West regions, offering a range of specialist support services to people impacted by sexual and family violence, encompassing 24 hour crisis care, specialist response services, early intervention programs, Victims Assistance Program, Community Legal Services, trauma recovery programs, professional training and primary prevention initiatives.

About The Role

The Executive Director of Finance is a critical strategic leadership position within the executive team, responsible for leading all financial operations, strategic financial planning, risk management, and financial compliance across the organisation. This role will provide expert financial leadership to support organisational sustainability, growth, and the achievement of our strategic objectives while maintaining our commitment to trauma-informed, community-centred service delivery.

The Executive Director of Finance will work closely with the CEO, executive team, and Board Finance Risk & Audit subcommittee to ensure robust financial governance, effective resource allocation, and compliance with all regulatory and funding requirements.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential Qualifications and Experience

Your application must address the following:

Essential Skills and Knowledge

* Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field with CPA/CA qualification or equivalent
* Minimum 7 years progressive financial management experience, with at least 3 years in senior leadership roles
* Demonstrated experience managing complex budgets exceeding $20 million, preferably in the not-for-profit or community services sector
* Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, NFP financial reporting requirements, and regulatory compliance
* Proven experience in strategic financial planning, forecasting, and financial analysis
* Strong experience in governance, risk management, and internal controls
* Demonstrated experience managing government grants and contracts, including acquittals and compliance reporting
* Demonstrated success in driving organisational transformation, executing financial reform initiatives, and achieving strategic objectives through periods of significant change
* Experience working with Boards and Board committees, providing high-quality financial reporting and advice
* Exceptional analytical skills with ability to translate complex financial information for diverse audiences
* Strong leadership and team management capabilities
* Advanced proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Period of Appointment

This position is ongoing depending on funding.

Hours of work

The position is full time 1.0 FTE

Salary and Conditions

Individual Agreement.

Industrial Instrument: The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre Enterprise Agreement 2023.

Salary Packaging: Provided via Maxxia. PBI status with other expenses available to package above this cap. The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a Public Benevolent Institution.

Superannuation: The employer will also make superannuation payments on your behalf in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee (Administration) Act 1992.

Probationary Period – 6 months with a review conducted during this time.
