About the role
We are currently seeking a keen and passionate engineer to join our high-performing team at our QCoal Northern Hub, located about 1 hour from Bowen and the Whitsundays. This location offers a unique opportunity for those wanting to live near the beach and be home every night while working in a positive environment and developing their skills in mining engineering.
We are looking for an open cut mining engineer with a strong understanding of open cut mining, confidence in Vulcan, and interest in developing scheduling skills in Spry. We welcome applicants with a couple of years of experience who show eagerness and potential. Reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer, you will work collaboratively to deliver high-quality mine plans and designs for our open-cut coal mine.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Delivering short-term planning outputs such as dig and dump designs, data analysis, dozer push designs, rehab designs, operational plans, and potentially developing skills in Spry for mine planning.
2. Communicating designs effectively with the production team.
3. Delivering weekly planning packs.
4. Ensuring compliance with safety, health, and environmental standards.
5. Providing information for reporting requirements.
6. Assisting the drill and blast engineer as needed.
7. Assessing operational efficiency opportunities and proposing innovative solutions.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Mining or Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years' operational mining engineering experience, preferably in open cut mining.
- Experience with MS Office, Vulcan, XPAC or SPRY, Deswik, 3D Dig, or similar software.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and engage with the production department.
- Keen, passionate, and positive attitude.
- Commitment to health and safety best practices.
- Excellent behavioral, time management, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
