About The Role
Full Time Ongoing Position
* Band 4 + Industry Allowance: $74,203 + 12% Superannuation + Maintenance Allowance
This is an opportunity for a leader with a passion for the outdoors to join our Open Space and Environment Department based at our Leongatha Depot. This role will provide the chance to experience the many natural assets across the greater South Gippsland Shire.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include leading our Open Space Team in delivering and prioritising a high standard of Horticultural services across Council's parks and gardens, reserves and CBDs, throughout our community and organising, planning, implementing and supervising Open Space works.
The position provides safe and inclusive leadership, labouring and plant operation, supervision, and on the job training to the Open Space team. There are opportunities to be hands on with the team to assist where required.
About You
You will hold a certificate in horticulture or relevant experience in a similar role and have experience and/or knowledge of Open Space practices.
You Will Also Have
* Manage and lead a large team in alignment with Supervisor direction, while maintaining team morale and positively supporting cultural change within the workplace.
* Proactively utilise available time when assigned tasks are completed to add value to the organisation, including supporting other teams, improving processes, undertaking maintenance, or contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
* Plant operating experience including mowers, trucks, chippers, chainsaws and hand tools.
* Relevant experience as a team leader involved in the daily planning and management of outdoor staff undertaking allocated tasks.
* Strong communication skills, good literacy and numeracy skills, knowledge of administration and Microsoft Office skills including proven skills with devices such as mobile phones, tablets and laptops are all requirements for this role.
* Ability to carry out manual labouring skills.
