**The Opportunity**
Council is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced senior leader to manage our vibrant, Libraries, Arts and Culture Portfolios. Reporting to the Director, Community Services, the role will provide strategic leadership and direction to Council's five library branches and the Arts and Culture team.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide evidence based advice and direction to Council for the planning and management of the library network
- Lead the development and delivery of strategies and services that provide for learning and cultural engagement for all life stages and across all cultural groups that reside in Maribyrnong
- Maintain strong relationships across Libraries and with community arts networks in Maribyrnong.
- Provide advice to Council in regard to the development of strategies for the management and delivery of visual arts, performing arts, and public art programs in Maribyrnong.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of trends in libraries development, including digital material, contemporary ICT and library management systems
- Ensure that all services provided are responsive to contemporary community needs and that they align with State Government funding requirements and with best practice benchmarks
- Contribute to the planning of multi-purpose community facilities that support opportunities for participation and engagement of all population groups residing in Maribyrnong
- Actively contribute to the strategic leadership of the Community Services Directorate and Council as part of the Senior Leadership Team.
**About You**
- Relevant Tertiary qualifications in Arts, Library or a relevant discipline, with demonstrated successful experience in working in a senior leadership role.
- Extensive and proven experience in the provision of Libraries, Arts, Culture and Community Learning services that consistently deliver high quality innovative services, facilities, events and programs that provide exemplary and responsive external and internal customer service.
- Demonstrated experience and track record of developing and leading high performing and engaged teams of staff that reflect the organisations values.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present complex reports to the executive leadership team and Council.
- Well-developed advocacy, negotiation, influencing, mediation, counselling, conflict resolution and community consultation skills.
- High level and extensive project and change management skills to be able to manage a complex and diverse portfolio of programs and facilities that ensures timely delivery of Council's strategic objectives.
