Business Intelligence Specialist
The organization requires a professional to deliver reports and data products. We need an experienced practitioner who can work with SQL, data preparation, dashboarding, and validation—collaborating with analysts to produce reliable outputs on time.
Key Objectives
* Prepare datasets and assets for Phases 1 & 2, validating and documenting them; ensure generation is repeatable via existing code libraries.
* Develop a common data view (industry/portfolio and other shared dimensions) to enable like-for-like comparisons across portfolios/industries.
* Refresh portfolio packs according to schedule, featuring accurate visuals and commentary inputs.
* Meet ad hoc requests with performant SQL and simple dashboards where necessary.
* Maintain operational hygiene (update tables, resolve performance and access issues, document processes).
Scope of Work
Phase Work (Phases 1 & 2)
* Extract, transform, and prepare data for charts, tables, and commentary.
* Run existing programs in our code libraries, where safe, to generate Phase outputs.
* Design and deliver a common view (via SQL or cube-like layer) to compare portfolios/industries and other key dimensions.
* Generate validation datasets; propose and implement validation methodologies.
* Produce clear technical and user documentation.
Data Products (Portfolio Packs)
* Use Power BI dashboards and Excel assets to extract visuals and data for portfolio packs.
* Validate before release; log issues and resolutions.
Ad Hoc Data Requests
* Write optimized SQL for defined questions; explain assumptions and caveats.
* Create/maintain dashboards sourced from database and Qualtrics data.
System Maintenance & Support
* Update database tables; investigate/resolve performance and access issues.
* Monitor scheduled runs; identify risks early and propose mitigations.
Required Skills: Advanced SQL, Power BI, Excel; understanding of best coding practices and modular design. Platforms/Tools: Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Python a plus. Experience with Bitbucket (git) and Jira (work tracking). Systems thinking: Troubleshoot program performance and access issues end-to-end. Working style: Proactive, pragmatic, validation-minded; balances speed with quality.
