We seek a dynamic Project Manager/Design Engineer to join our client's team in the Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
About The Role
The Project Manager/Design Engineer will drive projects from concept and design through to successful completion, ensuring timely delivery. Using design engineering expertise, you'll develop practical solutions while effectively managing project lifecycles and client relationships.
Responsibilities
1. Deliver projects on time and budget - leading all aspects of the project lifecycle, including design engineering and client liaison.
2. Respond to tenders and prepare competitive quotes incorporating design considerations.
3. Manage projects comprehensively from tender to completion, including detailed project scoping, on-site measurements, purchasing oversight, and manufacturing progress monitoring.
4. Perform design engineering and drafting of equipment and system components.
5. Serve as primary point of contact for customers, managing project changes and additions.
6. Maintain accurate records of drafting times for all projects.
7. Manage installation and commissioning phases of projects as required.
8. Liaise with customers, managing changes and additions to the project.
9. Report to the Managing Director and General Manager on project performance, including design-related aspects.
About You
1. Degree qualified in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
2. Experience in process engineering is highly desirable.
3. At least 2+ years of experience in a similar role.
4. A strong interest in seeing designs progress from concept to physical reality.
5. Proven experience working within heavy manufacturing (fabrication or machinery).
6. Exposure to the wastewater treatment or agricultural/food manufacturing sectors is beneficial, especially with equipment engineering experience.
7. Proactive and results-oriented approach.
8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
9. Strong project management abilities.
10. Ability to manage projects from initial concept to successful implementation.
