Offer description

It starts with YES!

At Optus, we have an ambitious goal to be Australia’s most loved everyday brand.

The Senior Corporate Counsel (SCC) will act as a trusted advisor to Optus Enterprise and Business, delivering expert legal guidance to enable informed commercial decision-making and ensuring compliance across operations. This role will be the primary legal lead for complex, high-value projects, providing specialist advice on telecommunications, ICT, cloud-led services, security, and related regulatory matters. The SCC will work closely with senior executives and stakeholders, negotiating with sophisticated customers and vendors, identifying legal and regulatory risks in new products, and facilitating contract approvals. Proactive monitoring of legal developments and continuous improvement of legal support processes will be central to the role, ensuring Optus remains competitive while managing risk in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment

Beyond project delivery, the SCC will help shape the legal capability of the Optus Enterprise and Bbusiness, potentially managing or mentoring a small team, building legal intellectual capital, and developing governance structures that support sound decision-making. They will collaborate with other senior lawyers to contribute to the overall strength and wellbeing of the Optus Legal Team and, where necessary, manage external legal service providers. Through strategic advice, stakeholder engagement, and process improvement, the SCC will play a key role in protecting Optus’ interests, enabling business growth, and delivering superior outcomes for both the company and its customers.
