Morgan McKinley is collaborating with a renowned NSW Government department to recruit a Communications Officer.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a communications professional to develop and implement a range of communication initiatives and coordinate and prepare responses, to ensure key stakeholders are informed of critical and sensitive matters.
- Develop, initiate and implement internal and external communication programs and plans to promote and support the role and work of the department
- Identify target audiences and their communication needs and assess the extent to which those needs are being met
- Maintain and update the communication strategy and report of achievements
- Provide a range of communication services which include the writing of articles, publications, presentation materials, internal newsletters, website information and annual reports. Plan, source, research, write, edit, proofread, prepare and co-ordinate the distribution of these materials.
- Maintain and continuously improve the website to ensure content is relevant and dynamic
- Research and prepare routine responses to media enquiries in a timely and accurate way
- Prepare briefings, correspondence and other materials as required to ensure stakeholders are kept informed of critical and sensitive matters relating to business
- Develop protocols and policies to guide staff in how to respond to requests for information and inquiries from the media, public and external agencies
- Monitor media, publications and other sources (such as websites and social media) for items of relevance and distribute summaries of these to the relevant staff
We are looking for a self-starter who possesses:
- Outstanding content creation and writing skills
- The ability to analyse complex information and convey it effectively
- Experience working collaboratively across teams and with external stakeholders
- Previous media experience is highly valued
- Prior Government experience is desirable
