About the role
This role presents a unique opportunity to support patients recovering from spinal cord injuries, working within a multidisciplinary team that values excellence, innovation, and continuity of care. As a key member of this dynamic team, you will deliver specialised nursing care, provide patient education, and offer emotional support throughout each individual's rehabilitation journey.
At the Spinal Rehabilitation Facility (SRF), nursing staff operate under a Primary Nursing model, fostering strong therapeutic relationships with patients. This approach enables nurses to rehabilitate, educate, support, and coordinate discharge planning in close collaboration with Allied Health professionals and the Community Spinal team, ensuring truly holistic care.
You’ll be supported by a team of experienced spinal nurses, educators, and clinical nurse specialists, with ongoing opportunities to expand your skills and advance your professional development.
A regular day will see you:
- Deliver comprehensive care for patients with spinal cord injuries, including:
- Neurogenic bladder and bowel management
- Activities of Daily Living (ADL) assistance
- Respiratory support
- Skin integrity and wound care
- Provide patient education and support to enhance self-management post-discharge, promoting independence and empowering patients to direct their own care.
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary discharge planning to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
