Trainee Hydraulic Draftsperson
Start your drafting career with real-world construction experience

IMPartners is pleased to present this employment opportunity on behalf of our client, Connekt Contracting — a reputable plumbing contractor with a strong presence in the commercial and industrial construction market. This full-time position is based in the inner southern suburbs at their Melrose Park office.

Connekt Contracting is known for its consistent delivery of quality hydraulic solutions across a diverse range of projects. With a strong focus on safety, innovation, and professionalism, the business has earned a reputation as a trusted contractor in South Australia's building services sector. Their commitment to ongoing development and practical training makes them an ideal employer for those looking to launch or grow a technical career in the construction industry.

An exciting opportunity now exists for a Trainee Hydraulic Draftsperson to join the team. This entry-level role is perfect for someone looking to kickstart a career in drafting with hands-on experience and structured mentoring. Working under the guidance of the Lead Hydraulic Designer, the successful candidate will play a valuable role in producing technical hydraulic drawings and documentation that support the delivery of complex construction projects.

What You'll Be Doing

* Assisting with drafting documentation for hydraulic and plumbing services

* Supporting project teams with 2D and 3D design tasks and coordination

* Referencing and interpreting architectural, structural, and services plans

* Learning to produce clash-free, buildable designs

* Using software like AutoCAD, Revit and Procore (training provided)

* Collaborating with experienced drafters, engineers and project managers

* Gradually taking ownership of documentation for small projects or areas

What We're Looking For

Our client is open to early-career applicants from all backgrounds — TAFE or uni students, or career changers with technical aptitude. What matters most is your attitude and curiosity.

You'll be a great fit if you:

* Are genuinely interested in design, construction or services drafting

* Have solid computer skills and proficiency in or a willingness to learn AutoCAD and Revit

* Notice the little things and take pride in your accuracy

* Can stay organised, follow process, and ask good questions

* Work well in a team and want to build a long-term career

Bonus points for:

* Prior work experience (even part-time or internship) in a construction or technical setting

* A relevant subject or qualification, such as MEP Drafting or Engineering (even partially complete)

Salary & Career Path

This is a full-time, entry-level role with a starting salary of $55,000–$60,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. You'll be joining a company committed to growing your skills through structured mentoring, hands-on project involvement, and long-term career development toward a qualified hydraulic draftsperson role.

How to Apply
