Site Security Specialist
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Site Security Specialist to provide strategic oversight of protective security across governance, personnel and physical security.
This role is responsible for fostering a culture where personnel have a high-degree of security awareness reinforced through practices that embed security into entity operations.
* Provide strategic guidance on security matters and incident response.
* Develop and maintain comprehensive security policies and procedures.
* Conduct regular threat and risk assessments to ensure suitability of security posture in specific areas.
* Conduct security audits to ensure business activities remain within required accreditation or regulatory standards.
* Engage with external accreditation and regulatory bodies on specific matters relating to operational security activities.
* Investigate and respond to incidents in critical circumstances to maintain protection of business operations and staff.
* Provide detailed information on key security content pertaining to their area to feed security managers' liaison with external and internal communications.
* Conduct effective operational security activities within the organisation to ensure optimum security performance.
* Establish procedures to achieve security outcomes consistent with Australian Government policies and legal requirements.
* Foster a positive security culture where personnel understand their responsibilities to manage security risk.
* Ensure information and security awareness training programs are in place to educate personnel on their security obligations.
* Establish security performance measures to ensure required protections are achieved.
* Disseminate and manage intelligence and threat information to stakeholders across the entity.
* Manage Australian Defence Industry Security Program requirements including reporting and security clearances.
* Directly manage access control, security keys and the security of information within the facility.
* Travel to sites to review security controls, conduct staff training and provide security related presentations as required.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
* Australian citizen eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance (Essential).
* Defence Security Officer Course, Defence Security Risk Management Course (desired).
* Knowledge of incident management, investigations and crisis management principles.
* Knowledge of security risk management techniques.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
* Strong experience in Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
* Demonstrated experience in Defence security or security processes and procedures.
* Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and external stakeholders.
* Self-management skills and demonstrated ability to work under own initiative to deliver outputs.
This is a full-time, on-site, role based out of our Canberra office. The individual will hold, or have the ability to hold, NV2 or higher security clearance.
Day-to-Day Tasks:
* Maintain compliance with DISC requirements.
* Opening and closing of the site and secure areas.
* Managing and escorting visitors.
* Managing clearance portal for the organisation.
* Supporting business with local and international visitor requests.
* Assisting with day-to-day site operations.
