The Midfield Group is privately owned and operates a true ‘Paddock to Plate’ experience as we own farms, factories, and distribution as to ensure we retain control of the key elements of the process of getting livestock from paddock to plate.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Primary Products Inspector responsible for inspecting meat and primary products, monitoring processing and packing operations. Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Inspection & Product Quality
* Inspect meat and processed products at pre-dispatch stage to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and customer specifications
* Identify product defects, contamination risks, and non-conformances, and take appropriate action
* Verify that products are handled, stored, and prepared in accordance with hygiene and food safety standards
Monitoring & Compliance
* Conduct routine monitoring checks across processing, packing, and storage areas
* Ensure compliance with food safety programs, regulatory requirements, and company QA procedures
* Monitor hygiene standards in facilities, equipment, and transport prior to dispatch
Testing & Verification
* Perform basic product checks and verification activities (e.g. visual inspection, weight/pack compliance, temperature checks where required)
* Support sampling and testing processes in line with QA requirements
Documentation & Reporting
* Accurately complete QA records, checklists, and compliance documentation within required timeframes
* Record inspection outcomes and escalate food safety hazards or quality issues promptly
* Maintain accurate data entry in QA systems (e.g. iLeader)
Operational Support
* Work closely with production teams to verify that products meet safety, hygiene, and specification requirements
* Provide feedback to operational staff regarding quality and compliance issues
OHS & Workplace Standards
* Comply with all workplace health and safety policies and procedures
* Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and safe work practices
* Follow site traffic management and safety requirements
Continuous Improvement
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives relating to product quality and compliance
* Identify and report opportunities to improve processes, product quality, and food safety outcomes
General
* Uphold Midfield Values, Policies, and Procedures in line with the Midfield Group Code of Conduct
* Attend and contribute effectively to relevant meetings
Perform other duties or projects within your skill set and experience, both on-site and in the workshop, as needed by the employer
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Relevant experience in the meat processing or food production industry (preferred)
AQF Diploma or higher qualification in food science, agriculture, or a related field (desirable), or equivalent industry experience
SKILLS & EXPERIENCES :
* Demonstrated ability to identify quality issues, non-conformances, and food safety risks
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to perform accurate inspections and complete documentation
* Ability to follow procedures and ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards
* Good problem-solving skills and the ability to take appropriate corrective action within scope
* Effective communication skills to report issues and liaise with operational staff
Proficient computer skills for data entry and record-keeping (e.g. QA systems such as iLeader)
