About the Role
We are looking for a Carer Support Caseworker in a full-time, permanent capacity for our Goulburn based team.
The successful person will be a motivated, will have outstanding communication skills and be a dedicated and passionate individual who is able to work autonomously and meet strict timeframes.
We are looking for individuals who are 'out of the box' thinkers, who may have established networks within the community or someone who can demonstrate their potential to engage with foster carers.
Responsibilities
Review prospective carers for suitability and maintain a pool of authorised carers through recruitment, assessment and training to ensure children and young people in care are provided with an environment that ensures their safety and wellbeing.
Develop recruitment strategies that attract and engage potential foster carers.
Coordinate the initial and ongoing training (when required) and assessment for foster carers, by creating development plans and conducting comprehensive assessment reports that inform recommendations.
Maintain required database records and respond to placement referrals.
Engage with local community at various events ensuring the CareSouth brand is positively represented.
Qualifications
Completion of Step by Step and Shared Lives training will be considered highly desirable.
Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Diploma in Social Sciences / Social Welfare or equivalent, or working towards or equivalent of a minimum 2 years working with children and young persons.
Demonstrated understanding of the issues facing vulnerable children and their families.
Previous experience in a related / similar role.
Sound interpersonal, facilitation, training and conflict resolution skills.
Demonstrated experience in engaging, establishing and maintaining effective community networks.
High level verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced computer literacy including familiarity with client management systems.
Previous experience working with Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander persons.
Understanding and commitment to Equal Employment Opportunity, Work Health and Safety, Cultural issues and the NSW Child Protection system.
Current driver's licence.
