Fishing Manager – Retail Leadership Role | Karratha WAKarratha Adventure Sports
About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Fishing Manager to lead our fishing department at Karratha Adventure Sports, one of the largest fishing and outdoor retail stores in regional Western Australia.
This role is responsible for driving sales, maintaining high merchandising standards, managing stock, and delivering exceptional customer service in a fast‐paced retail environment. You'll be the go‐to expert for fishing in the Pilbara — helping customers gear up for everything from weekend missions to serious offshore adventures.
You'll work closely with the Store Manager to ensure the department runs smoothly while contributing to the overall success of the store.
About the Team and Opportunity
This role has been created as part of the continued growth of Karratha Adventure Sports.
Our current Store Manager, Chelsea, has successfully led the fishing department for years while stepping into a broader store leadership role. As the business has grown, it's time to split this position into two dedicated roles — allowing for stronger leadership across both the store and the fishing department.
As Fishing Manager, you'll work closely alongside Chelsea (Store Manager), as well as our leadership team including our Dive & Sports Manager and Camping Manager / Assistant Manager. Together, you'll help lead a team of approximately 25 staff, with up to 11 team members rostered on any given day.
Karratha Adventure Sports is one of the largest tackle stores in regional WA, with over 1300m2 of retail space across two levels. This is a fast‐paced, high‐volume retail environment where strong leadership, organisation, and product knowledge are essential.
This is not a small shop role — it's an opportunity to take ownership of a major department within a well‐established and growing business.
Key Responsibilities
* Take ownership of the fishing department's performance, including sales, stock, and overall presentation
* Lead from the front on the shop floor, delivering strong customer service and sharing product knowledge
* Manage, support, and guide team members, ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard
* Provide expert advice across a range of fishing styles including land‐based, boat, estuary, and offshore
* Build strong relationships with customers and the local fishing community
* Drive sales through customer engagement, upselling, and involvement in promotions and in‐store events
* Manage stock ordering, replenishment, and inventory control, including identifying best sellers and slow‐moving items
* Maintain a clean, organised, and well‐presented department with accurate pricing and signage
* Stay up to date with fishing products, techniques, and industry trends, working closely with suppliers and reps
* Contribute to in‐store events, product demonstrations, and content ideas
