Role Overview
Open Space Planner actively shapes and improves Glen Eira's network of local parks and public spaces, delivering practical, well‐designed improvements across a range of projects and scales. This is a permanent, full‐time position with flexible work options available. The role leads planning for future open space, implements policy, and informs decision‐making through masterplans and community engagement. Band 7: $109k-123k per year (depending on experience) + 12% superannuation.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the provision of future open space, policy implementation and evidence‐based decision‐making.
* Develop and review masterplans and progress key actions through concept design and community engagement.
* Balance strategic thinking with hands‐on project development to deliver sustainable and climate‐responsive outcomes.
* Undertake site visits across the municipality.
* Attend Council and community meetings, including those outside standard business hours when required.
Qualifications and Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Recreation or a related discipline, with substantial professional experience.
* High competency in developing policy and strategy in an open space planning context.
* Proven experience leading complex open space planning and design projects, including concept design, consultant management, cost estimation and delivery coordination within budget and time constraints.
* Ability to translate big‐picture objectives into practical, achievable improvements.
* Experience coordinating consultants, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring quality outcomes.
