About the role
AGL's Gas & Renewables Engineering team is seeking a Senior SCADA Engineer. The SCADA team manages all operational technology (OT) control systems across AGL's entire Gas & Renewables portfolio. This role can be based in Melbourne, Brisbane or Adelaide. You will support a growing portfolio of assets, including end‐to‐end management of SCADA systems from sensors and instrumentation to business application integration.
What you'll do
* Champion strategic operating, dispatch, and maintenance approaches
* Deliver SCADA support services, ensuring system availability and seamless Dispatch Centre integration
* Conduct system health checks, daily monitoring, and change management
* Provide subject‐matter expertise during major projects, from construction through commissioning
* Configure and maintain SCADA systems, telemetry, HMI, control systems, and data networks
* Embed AGL's Life‐Saving Rules and HSE practices into all activities
What you'll bring
* Tertiary degree in Electrical, Control Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
* Proven experience as an Electrical/Control Systems Engineer in heavy‐industrial SCADA environments
* Expertise in managing distributed assets and implementing strategic operational initiatives
* Strong HSE regulatory knowledge
* Understanding of National Electricity Rules and regulatory frameworks
* Ability to support and guide diverse, remote operator teams
* Experience scoping and delivering large‐scale projects
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Chartered Registration with Engineers Australia (current or obtainable)
* Functional Safety qualifications (desirable)
