The role of Students with Disability Consultant belongs to the Students with Disability team in the Teaching and Learning directorate. We have 5 office campuses across the state and this role will be based at our West Leederville Office.

This is a 0.89FTE working term time only, one year leave cover position commencing July 2026.

Applications are encouraged from existing CEWA school employees wishing to explore the option of a period of leave from their present position.

As a Students with Disability Consultant, you will be responsible for supporting Catholic school communities and to provide appropriate educational provisions for students with disability, in partnership with parents, principal and staff in Catholic schools in Western Australia.

The primary accountabilities for this role include but are not limited to:

* Support school and system initiatives aligned with CECWA's Strategic Initiatives and Quality Catholic Education.
* Support the Teaching and Learning Directorate strategic focus areas, through the Quality Catholic Education Framework, including the Vision for Learning and Contemporary Pedagogies.
* To provide advice to Catholic school staff and leadership teams on issues related to educational practices and provision for students with disability.
* To provide ongoing specialist support to school staff on issues related to the education of students with disability.
* To promote best educational practices to improve learning outcomes for students with disability.
* Take responsibility for a designated student caseload in schools K-12 in the Perth Diocese.
* Promote individualised programs and planning for students with disability.
* Advise and assist school administrators with special education provision, funding applications and submissions.
* Advise and assist school administrator with collating and the submission of Nationally Consistent Collection of Data for School Students with Disability.
* Provide support and advice to schools on the provision of facilities, resources and equipment for students with disability.

Selection Criteria

A. ESSENTIAL:

* Prepared to support the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.
* Demonstrated commitment to Quality Catholic Education and CEWA's Vision for Learning.
* Recent school-based experience with evidence of exemplary teaching.
* Specific qualifications and experience in teaching students with disability.
* Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of current drivers, impacts and legislation of disability.
* High level organisational skills well developed oral and written communication skills and a capacity to work cooperatively as part of a team.
* Capacity to support school staff to assess the current learning level of students with disability, adapt the teaching curriculum and report on student progress.
* Capacity to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with parents, personnel in schools, and other learning organisations.
* Experience in facilitating Professional Learning programs.
* An understanding of augmentative and alternative communication.
* Ability to respond to the diverse needs of school communities.

This is a term-time only role. The employee FTE will be reflected as 0.89 FTE (Working full time and entitled to an additional 26 days annual leave per year to be booked during the school holidays).
