About Us

GT Biosciences is building Deliveromics, the world's first AI-powered, high-throughput, and multiplexed in vivo data engine for decoding the design rules of drug delivery. Founded by MIT scientists and backed by top-tier investors, we are creating next-generation non-viral, cell-type-specific delivery vehicles, including early success in crossing the blood–brain barrier and transfecting specific brain cell types. We are a tightly-knit, fast-moving, and science-driven team dedicated to making routine in vivo cell reprogramming a reality.

We value transparency and collaboration, and seek teammates who thrive in an open, cooperative environment and want to grow together with the team and the company.

Job Description

GT Biosciences is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Technician or Research Associate to join our Platform Development Team. This is an entry-level, hands‐on laboratory role designed for someone eager to learn and grow within a fast‐moving, science‐obsessed startup environment.

You will work directly alongside our scientists and be trained on every step of our experimental workflows — from tissue processing and molecular biology to spatial genomics and protein work. Our commitment is to teach you everything you need to know. Your job is to absorb, learn, and progressively execute these workflows independently.

By the end of your first three months, you will have built a strong core wetlab skill set and gained hands‐on experience with cutting‐edge technologies that few labs in the world are running. This is a real opportunity to grow — technically, scientifically, and professionally — alongside a team building something transformative.

This is a full‐time, in‐person position based in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

* Assist with and independently execute molecular biology workflows (e.g., nucleic acid extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR, buffer preparation).
* Support tissue processing and preparation steps (e.g., sectioning, fixation, permeabilization, staining).
* Assist with protein work as needed (e.g., bacterial culture, protein purification, bioconjugation).
* Perform sample preparation and quality control measurements (e.g., fluorescence assays, plate reader operation, imaging).
* Maintain basic cell culture responsibilities as required (e.g., passaging, cryopreservation, mycoplasma testing).
* Handle liquid handling tasks with accuracy and care (e.g., multichannel pipetting, reagent pooling, serial dilutions).
* Keep meticulous, organized laboratory records and documentation (e.g., lab notebooks, SOPs, experimental logs, reagent inventories).

Qualifications

Required

* B.S. or M.S. in Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or a related field.
* At least 3+ years of hands‐on experience in a wet laboratory setting (academic or industry).
* Demonstrated attention to detail and strong commitment to accurate, thorough record‐keeping.
* Proficiency with basic molecular biology techniques (e.g., running gels, making buffers, using DNA/RNA extraction kits).
* Comfort with precision liquid handling (e.g., multichannel pipetting, reagent preparation).
* Basic cell culture skills (e.g., mammalian cell passaging, sterile technique).
* A proactive, team‐first attitude with a genuine eagerness to learn and take ownership.
* Ability to work onsite five days per week at our Cambridge, MA location.

Preferred

* Exposure to nucleic acid‐based assays (e.g., hybridization, ligation, or amplification workflows).
* Familiarity with tissue processing (e.g., cryosectioning, fixation, staining).
* Experience with fluorescence microscopy or plate reader operation.
* Prior experience in a spatial biology, genomics, or imaging‐focused laboratory.

Nice to Have

* Basic coding or data analysis skills (e.g., Python, R, or Excel for data organization).
* Exposure to drug delivery systems (e.g., lipid nanoparticles, viral vectors).
* Experience with protein expression or purification workflows.
* Familiarity with automated liquid handling platforms.
* Mouse Intravenous Injection and Perfusion.

Compensation:

Estimated Base Salary: $22-$40 (depending on experience)

What we offer:

* Flexible, generous health benefits.
* Work with a small, world‐class team that values rigorous science and candid collaboration.
* Opportunity to work with experts from diverse scientific backgrounds.
* Professional development and learning opportunities.
