About the Role
As part of our growth, we are centralising all of our category management into this newly created division. The role of the Group Category Manager will be to help build and drive our evolving capability in this space. Working collaboratively with all Bapcor Business Units, enabling functions and the wider network to implement and manage the Category strategies.
**Key responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Driving sales of both suppliers' products and private label brands at above industry benchmark levels
- Monitoring overall operational metrics of your category across the business (sales, margins, market share, savings, supplier performance, working capital, risks, rebates, non-compliant spend, etc.)
- Supporting all Business unit product and merchandise teams to range market leading products and offers to enable them to achieve their strategic goals
- Developing and executing product category plan(s) and strategies for assigned portfolio(s), including range development, range rationalisation, inventory performance, promotional activities, sales initiatives, price positioning, channels and segmentation.
- Conducting thorough market research, competitor analysis, and customer insights to identify opportunities for growth and differentiation within assigned categories
- Working with customers and business unit teams to translate customer insights into strategies which drive category performance.
- Identifying and evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, and establishing strong working relationships to ensure a reliable and cost-effective supply chain.
About you
Ideally you will be tertiary qualified in Business or a related field. You will have proven track record in category management, with excellent project management, planning & organisational skills. You have strong business acumen and an understanding of customer & supplier needs. You are highly motivated and proactive and thrive in an environment where your expertise can shine.
You have excellent communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with ease, you are able to engage & collaborate across all levels within an organisation. You work well in a matrix environment and are customer focussed. While industry knowledge is not a priority, a passion for auto products would be beneficial as you drive category management across the likes of our brakes, steering & suspension or engine product groups
