The Department of the House of Representatives is seeking applications from those interested in directly supporting the work of the House of Representatives and members of Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra.
About the department
The Department of the House of Representatives provides services to support the efficient conduct of the House of Representatives, its committees and certain joint committees, and provides a range of services and facilities for Members of Parliament in Parliament House. The department also promotes the work of the House in the community and supports the conduct of the Parliament’s international and regional relations.
About the role
The Senior Visits Officer will plan, manage, and coordinate arrangements for parliamentary delegations and provide secretariat support to the Parliament’s membership of international parliamentary organisations. The role involves liaison with parliamentarians and their staff, diplomatic representatives, other Parliamentary and Commonwealth departments, and state and territory parliaments in relation to inter-parliamentary activities and events.
Experience in delegation coordination, event coordination, and the delivery of high-level visits is highly desirable. The Officer will be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills and have a high level of administrative and organisational capability. Some travel will be required.
Duties
Manage the implementation of visits for outgoing delegations, including the international travel requirements of Presiding Officers and their staff.Manage programs for Working Visit delegations and Guest of Parliament delegation programs, and perform representational duties as required.Manage study visit programs and provide logistical support for parliamentary strengthening programs as required.Assist with the Parliament’s participation in international parliamentary correspondence and briefing papers and other documents on policy and procedural issues related to the Department’s international program.Manage office financial transactions, including processing invoices and preparing purchase orders.Maintain relevant records, from file creation to archiving, and maintain IT record keeping systems including databases and web publishing.As required, provide leadership and supervise for staff assisting with visit programs and related activities.

Be an Australian citizen;Undertake a National Police check;Obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Baseline level
