The positions involve managing various priority capital works projects of differing complexity, primarily across design and construction phases, including project planning, procurement, financial management, and stakeholder consultation.
Successful candidates will:
1. Coordinate and manage medium to large infrastructure projects, overseeing design and construction, project planning, procurement, and stakeholder engagement.
2. Provide advice to Councillors, Council staff, and the public on policies and projects, including managing external consultants.
3. Establish work processes to meet departmental priorities, monitor and report on projects.
4. Develop and implement systems, procedures, and standards for effective project delivery.
5. Liaise with other departments, government agencies, and clients to ensure statutory compliance and alignment with objectives.
6. Prepare consultancy briefs, evaluate tenders, and manage contracted parties.
7. Review and improve project delivery processes, including project management and quality systems.
8. Prepare project management plans, provide regular updates, and manage issues proactively.
About you
1. Relevant tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Architecture, Planning, or similar, with substantial relevant experience.
2. Hold a Queensland White Card/Construction Industry Induction Card.
3. Experience in infrastructure planning, design, and construction management on medium to large projects.
4. An innovative mindset with logical, creative, and lateral thinking skills.
5. Strong communication skills and ability to facilitate successful team outcomes.
6. Leadership experience with consultants and stakeholders through project phases, keeping projects on time and budget.
7. Ability to research, monitor, coordinate, and deliver infrastructure outcomes across all phases.
8. Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies, or ability to acquire quickly.
9. Demonstrated leadership and ability to acquire knowledge rapidly to achieve positive outcomes.
