We are looking for an experienced Home Maintenance Officer for a short-term assignment, Dandenong location, weekly pay, Mon to Fri - 8am-4pm
* 5 days, 8am - 4pm, $36.09 per hr
* Visit clients home in Dandenong, Springvale, Noble Park & surrounding areas
* Starting 18th March until 29th May 2026
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Home Maintenance Officer to deliver high-quality, minor home repairs and basic gardening services for eligible residents, including older people and those living with disabilities.
About the Role
This hands-on role supports community members to remain safe, secure, and independent in their own homes. It also involves working closely with Occupational Therapists, internal teams, and external service providers to ensure residents' needs are met with dignity and respect.
This role involves physical tasks and travel between client homes. Applicants must be physically capable of using home maintenance tools and working in a variety of home settings.
The position would commence on Monday 18th March until 29th May 2026, candidates must be available 5 days per week between 8am - 4pm.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform minor home repairs, alterations, odd jobs, and basic gardening tasks.
* Install safety equipment (e.g. handrails, ramps) as specified by Occupational Therapists.
* Purchase and transport materials as needed to complete tasks.
* Advise clients and refer to qualified tradespeople when appropriate.
* Prioritise and schedule appointments independently.
* Collect client fees and issue receipts.
* Observe and report any client wellbeing or safety concerns.
* Maintain tools, equipment, and accurate records of work completed.
* Respect cultural values and maintain confidentiality at all times.
What You'll Bring
* Minimum 1 year of experience in home maintenance or a related field.
* Proficiency in using hand and power tools, and experience in basic repairs and gardening.
* Strong communication skills and a respectful, client‐focused approach.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
* Trade qualifications in carpentry, plumbing, or electrical (desirable).
* Ability to tow a trailer (preferred).
* A second language is an advantage.
* Clear Police Check that has been issued in the last 3 months.
* Working with Children's Check - employment.
