Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Farm Operations Manager to oversee the management of a 1 hectare glasshouse and outdoor crops. The ideal candidate will have Australian work rights and 2 years of farming or agricultural experience, as well as a certificate in agriculture or horticulture.
This role involves two key areas: farm operations and glasshouse assistance.
Farm Operations
* The successful applicant will be responsible for utilizing tractors for various tasks such as spraying, weed control, mulching and more.
* A chemical handling certification is required, which we can provide if the applicant does not already hold one.
* Oversight of fruit harvesting and picker supervision may also be involved.
* You will receive guidance from our current farm management team.
* Training on equipment will be provided.
* Pruning of trees as necessary during specific times of the year.
Glasshouse Assistant
* Under the instruction of our glasshouse managers/agricultural scientists, you will assist with daily operations including plant maintenance, cleaning, harvesting (if required), weeding and basic nursery work (if necessary).
* You will perform other tasks as directed at specific times of the year.
Candidates must be able to work effectively in heat and humidity conditions and maintain good physical fitness.
Management will ensure that all training is completed before allowing the applicant to work independently.
Schedule:
The successful applicant will be responsible for learning the basics of the glasshouse operation and managing the glasshouse every third weekend. This is a critical aspect of the role, and applicants who cannot commit to this schedule should not apply.
