The Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our team delivering automated cold store facilities and complex industrial infrastructure projects. This is an opportunity to work on large‐scale automation and logistics projects, helping clients design, integrate, commission, and optimise facilities that support the future of cold chain operations.
Working across engineering, operations, automation, and project delivery, you'll lead projects from concept development through to commissioning and handover. You'll work closely with clients, consultants, OEMs, and multidisciplinary project teams to deliver safe, efficient, and high‐performing facilities.
What You'll Be Doing
As the technical representative for the business, you'll work closely with stakeholders, consultants, OEMs, and system integrators to deliver successful project outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
* Defining facility requirements, throughput targets, and operational workflows
* Developing functional specifications and technical performance requirements
* Evaluating automation and technology solutions to meet business objectives
* Managing multidisciplinary design development across automation, refrigeration, controls, mechanical, electrical, civil, and structural disciplines
* Coordinating consultants, equipment suppliers, and specialist contractors
* Supporting system integration across automation, refrigeration, warehouse systems, and operational technologies
* Participating in FAT, SAT, commissioning, and performance validation activities
* Supporting operational readiness and facility handover
* Identifying opportunities to improve throughput, reliability, energy efficiency, and operational performance
* Providing technical support for upgrades, optimisation projects, and future expansion initiatives
What We're Looking For
You'll be a practical, solutions-focused engineer with experience delivering complex industrial, automation, or infrastructure projects.
Ideally, you'll have experience in one or more of the following areas:
* Automated warehousing, ASRS, robotics, or materials handling systems
* Cold storage, refrigerated logistics, food processing, or industrial refrigeration environments
* Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
* Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
* Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
* Industrial automation and integrated operational systems
* Multidisciplinary design management and systems integration
You'll also bring:
* A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Industrial, or a related Engineering discipline
* Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders across complex projects
* Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills
* The ability to translate operational requirements into practical engineering solutions
Experience with baggage handling systems or other complex materials handling environments will be highly regarded.
