Non-profit Organisation based in CairnsCompetitive RemunerationFull-time permanent basisYour new companyAn exciting opportunity to step into a vital role within a community-led non-profit organisation that works to empower Indigenous families and communities. They are currently seeking an experienced Project and Grants Officer to join the team on a full-time permanent basis, to start immediately in a Cairns-based role.Your new roleThe Grants Officer plays a pivotal role in maintaining the processes that attract resources to continue and expand their work. This role is evenly split between grant writing and grant administration. You will be responsible for the capture and management of opportunities, identifying funding streams, managing the proposal development process, including grant and award applications, and developing and maintaining the tools and resources needed to support efficient and high-quality submissions.You will also be responsible for, but not limited to:Research and assess potential grants and opportunities that align with organisational prioritiesThe ongoing administration and tracking of grants to ensure compliance, reporting, and financial alignment across the organisationLead the end-to-end development of grant submissions, working closely with program staffEnsure all applications are tailored, compliant, and submitted on timeDraft, edit, and format high-quality grant and award applications, ensuring they have a compelling narrative that clearly communicates the impact, need, and value of proposed projectsCoordinate the preparation of progress and acquittal reports in line with grant agreementsTrack deliverables, milestones, and ensure compliance with funding conditions and governance obligationsMaintain a record of all Grant agreements, tasks, and correspondence using SharePoint and specified Grant softwareWhat you'll need to succeedTo excel as a Grants Officer, several key skills are crucial. Strong grant writing skills are essential for crafting persuasive proposals that effectively communicate project goals and outcomes. Excellent research and analytical abilities enable the Grants Officer to identify suitable funding opportunities and gather supporting data. You will have high-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging and structure, as well as relationship-building skills.Proven experience in managing funding processes, with a strong track record in preparing high-quality grant, tender, or business proposals. Attention to detail and organisational skills are necessary for accurate documentation and meeting deadlines. Overall, a Grants Officer should possess a combination of these skills, coupled with a passion for community-focused work and the ability to work collaboratively to achieve success in securing vital funding for impactful initiatives.Respect and understanding for, Australian Indigenous cultures, with the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and a strong commitment to their social, economic, and cultural development. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Working with Children Blue Card and successfully complete a National Police Check.What you'll get in returnIn return for your hard work, you will gain a full-time permanent opportunity with a non-profit organisation based in Cairns, working hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.
