We are seeking a Digital Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support digital integration across complex Land domain systems within a high-assurance Defence environment.
This role sits within a specialised integration function responsible for ensuring interoperability across a system-of-systems environment that underpins Land capability. You will operate as part of a multidisciplinary team driving integration outcomes across multiple programs, with a primary focus on Land C4.
This is a deep technical SME role, not a generic architecture or advisory position. The successful candidate will be expected to produce structured integration advice, technical design artefacts, and formal outputs that directly influence capability decisions across Defence programs.
You will engage with stakeholders across capability, acquisition, and delivery environments, providing authoritative guidance on digital integration, system interoperability, and technical design considerations.
Key Responsibilities
* Define, design, validate, and support digital integration requirements across Land programs
* Develop and contribute to system-level integration design within a complex system-of-systems environment
* Produce detailed technical documentation, integration advice, and solution designs
* Assess integration approaches across the Defence Capability lifecycle (pre- and post-Gate activities)
* Engage with program, project, and capability stakeholders to provide integration guidance
* Lead or contribute to technical workshops, stakeholder forums, and integration discussions
* Support development and maintenance of integration frameworks, design artefacts, and technical baselines
* Provide input into future-state integration approaches and emerging technology considerations
* Work collaboratively within a team of SMEs to ensure consistency across integration efforts
* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, IT, Science, or a related discipline OR equivalent demonstrated experience
* Deep technical expertise in at least one of the following domains:
o Networking (tactical or enterprise)
o C4 systems and software
o Tactical data links
o Distributed systems
o Tactical or strategic communications (including RF, SATCOM, waveforms)
o Large-scale software systems
o Autonomous systems integration
o AS GxA standards (GVA, LDM, VSOE)
o Fires systems integration
* Proven ability to analyse complex systems and produce structured technical integration outputs
* Strong stakeholder engagement experience across technical and program environments
* Ability to operate within a highly structured, high-assurance Defence environment
* Active NV1 security clearance at commencement
* Experience working with Defence C4 systems or related environments
* Knowledge of the Defence Capability Model and Land domain programs
* Experience supporting integration across multiple programs or portfolios
* Workshop facilitation and stakeholder engagement experience
* Exposure to test & evaluation, systems engineering, or integration governance
* Program or project delivery experience in complex environments
* Familiarity with coalition or joint-force interoperability considerations
* Defence Smart Buyer experience

* Onsite presence is critical to success in this role
