Key Role: Aboriginal Education Assistant
The Aboriginal Education Assistant plays a vital part in supporting the educational journey of Indigenous students. Working within the Improvement, Learning and Wellbeing Team - Learning K-12, this role focuses on providing targeted support to students in Years 7 to 12 in the Macarthur region.
This crucial position involves collaborating with teachers, school staff, and community members to develop and implement culturally responsive programs that cater to the unique needs of Indigenous students.
Essential Responsibilities:
* Supporting Indigenous students in literacy, numeracy, and cultural initiatives
* Liaising with local communities, schools, and parishes to provide comprehensive support services
* Working closely with educators to develop and implement effective, culturally responsive programs
To be successful in this role, you will require a deep understanding of and commitment to the mission and purpose of Catholic education. You must also possess excellent communication skills, be comfortable interacting with Indigenous community members, and have the flexibility to adapt to varying working conditions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Indigenous background
* Certificate III in School Support or equivalent qualification
* Experience in educational settings, particularly in supporting boys' and girls' cultural programs
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
