Regional Alliance West is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting individuals and families experiencing disadvantage across the Midwest, Murchison and Gascoyne regions of Western Australia. For over 40 years, we have delivered compassionate, community-driven services in some of the most remote and under-resourced parts of the state.
With a committed team of over 30 staff and volunteers, we operate 11 unique programs ranging from community legal outreach and counselling to advocacy and tailored support services. Our mission is simple: to provide accessible, practical support to empower individuals and strengthen communities.
About the Role
The Road Safety Camera Strategy Education Officer will play a key role in delivering community education across regional and remote communities in the Mid-West, Murchison, and Gascoyne regions. Funded by the Road Safety Commission, this role focuses on raising awareness of WA's Safety Camera Strategy and helping communities understand how road safety cameras contribute to saving lives and reducing road trauma.
You will be working with local communities and specific high-risk groups to promote safe driving behaviour, reduce the likelihood of fines, and support a broader cultural shift in attitudes towards road safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver community education programs focused on the WA Road Safety Camera Strategy, tailored for regional and remote communities.
* Develop and adapt educational materials provided by the Road Safety Commission to suit local and cultural contexts.
* Organise and facilitate awareness activities that highlight road safety risks, traffic offences, and new camera technologies.
* Engage with diverse community groups to ensure messaging is relevant, respectful, and effective in driving behaviour change.
About You
We are looking for an engaging communicator and culturally sensitive educator, passionate about promoting safer roads and empowering communities. An understanding of the importance in tailoring education for regional and remote populations and are skilled in outreach and community engagement. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
* Experience in community education, outreach, or health/safety promotion.
* Strong cultural competency and the ability to connect with diverse communities.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
* A genuine commitment to community safety and public wellbeing.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Qualifications in Community Development, Education, Health Promotion or related field (desirable).
* Previous experience in road safety, community engagement, or public education.
* Current WA Driver's Licence and willingness to travel.
* National Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
