The Role

The Senior Garment Technician is responsible for the execution and delivery of key collections, ensuring each style is delivered to a high standard.
You will bring extensive experience in luxury womenswear across a range of apparel categories - and work to deliver and improve: garment construction, fittings, quality assurance, fabrication and production. You will work alongside the team to bring incredible premium quality styles to Australia, New Zealand and other international markets. The role reports to our Creative Director.
Position Overview
You will work within the Design team to transition from initial design concepts through to final production and throughout the production process. You will play a crucial role in supporting all stages including ideation, technical delivery and operational excellence.
You will specify and create technical packs, oversee the fitting process, coordinate quality control standards and implement fitting comments and measurement adjustments, ensuring all products meet the Zoe Kratzmann workmanship standards and critical path deadlines.
Responsibilities
* Work within the team oversee the development process to ensure all elements are executed in line with Zoe Kratzmann standard of quality, sustainability, and creative design brief.
* Deliver solutions to ensure commercially viable garments – you will drive proposed decisions that maximise efficiencies without jeopardising the ZK price/quality relationship.
* Create technical packs and adjust garment specs, considering technical pattern making throughout the development process.
* Ensure initial prototype and factory briefs are incredibly thorough, aiming to minimise sampling costs and improving prototype success rates.
* Oversee the fit and sampling process, ensuring consistency in quality and brand standards.
* Ensure continuous improvements to QC procedures, size consistency and grading.
* Oversee and approve seasonal FGS – flagging errors and educating offshore suppliers on an ongoing basis.
* Track and report on development progress and potential production challenges.
* Develop, maintain and update technical sketches and Bill of Materials.
* Contribute to the production and QC process and maintain strong relationships with offshore suppliers – supporting our Production Manager to solve any QC issues throughout production.
* Contribute to ongoing quality, commercial and department improvements with a positive, continuous improvement mindset.
* Work with apparel technology on a day-to-day basis including PLM software, Adobe suite and a willingness to train in 3D prototyping technology.
Skills and Qualifications
* 10+ years experience in QC, technical design, and garment technology.
* Deep expertise in garment construction is a must, along with experience in womens tailoring and other womenswear categories.
* Experience in a range of commercial and luxury environments.
* Deep expertise in working with a high number of measurement points – garments with high levels of detail is key.
* Experience working across a variety of categories is essential.
* Tertiary education in textiles, fashion, pattern making or similar.
* Experience in tech packs, garment spec and grading is essential.
* In‑depth knowledge and experience in construction, fabric testing, textile properties and quality assurance.
* In‑depth knowledge in executing detailed print designs, scale and digital placements.
* Strong communication skills with both international suppliers and internal departments.
* Strong organisational skills to adhere to critical path deadlines.
