A prominent Federal Government Department is seeking an experienced IBM Mainframe Developer (Associate Developer) to join their ICT Division. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the development and sustainment of large-scale enterprise systems supporting critical national services. The successful IBM Mainframe Developer will work across key initiatives supporting business-critical platforms, enhancing system performance, reliability, and operational capability. The IBM Mainframe Developer will be offered an initial 12-month contract with 2 x 12-month extension options and will be based onsite in Canberra.
The successful IBM Mainframe Developer will be responsible for, but not limited to:
* Develop, test and maintain high-quality COBOL-based applications across the full software development lifecycle.
* Integrate software components into fully functional enterprise systems and support deployment activities.
* Troubleshoot, debug and resolve complex technical issues within secure mainframe environments.
* Collaborate with project managers, business analysts and ICT teams to deliver high-quality, fit-for-purpose solutions.
To be successful, the IBM Mainframe Developer will demonstrate:
* Strong expertise in COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, DB2 and mainframe operating systems such as z/OS or z/VSE.
* Proven experience in mainframe application development, unit testing and systems integration.
* Excellent analytical, problem-solving and technical documentation skills.
