The opportunity
Downer's Technology & Communications business delivers end‐to‐end solutions across the design, construction and integration of telecommunications infrastructure for major carrier and critical communications networks across Australia.
We're seeking an experienced Deployment Engineer to join our Wireless team. Working as part of a multi‐disciplinary team of designers, engineers and project specialists, you will coordinate the full lifecycle of telecommunications site construction and integration activities. This includes ensuring constructible designs, ordering materials, engaging field resources, developing build plans, securing permits and overseeing all construction documentation and handover requirements.
In this role, you will manage the end‐to‐end build process for a portfolio of SAED and construction projects, ensuring all work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with client requirements, Australian Standards and regulatory obligations.
What we're looking for
* Tertiary qualification in Telecommunication Engineering or Construction.
* 5+ years' experience as a Deployment Engineer or Project Engineer on major wireless telecommunications projects.
* Strong background in the design, construction and integration of Australian Telecommunications Carrier networks, including nbn and Telstra.
* Knowledge of 4G and 5G technologies, including BTS, RRUs, antenna systems, feeder systems and Ericsson equipment (mandatory).
* Understanding of fibre and microwave transmission systems, hybrid cable, fibre and coax installation standards.
* Proficiency interpreting For Construction drawings, generating scopes of work and BoMs, and completing constructability reviews.
* Experience interfacing with SAED teams, including Safety in Design considerations.
* Strong subcontractor management capability and field‐based problem‐solving skills.
