Our client is a pre-eminent North American elite boutique investment bank with a distinguished track record in complex, cross-border M&A. With a growing commitment to the Asia Pacific region, the firm is seeking a seasoned leader to anchor and build its Power, Utilities & Infrastructure practice across the region.
The Role
This is a rare, franchise-building mandate for an exceptional senior banker. As Managing Director and regional sector lead, you will originate, structure and execute high-value M&A advisory assignments across the full power, utilities and infrastructure spectrum in Asia Pacific, spanning renewables, conventional generation, regulated utilities, energy transition, transportation infrastructure, digital infrastructure, and water. You will operate as a true equity partner within the firm, with full P&L accountability and a direct line to senior leadership in North America.
* Lead origination and execution of M&A advisory mandates across the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sector in Asia Pacific, with a focus on transformational and cross-border transactions.
* Build, cultivate and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic corporates, sovereign wealth funds, infrastructure funds, utilities, pension capital, and state-owned enterprises across the region.
* Serve as a primary client coverage officer across key APAC markets including Australia, Japan, South Korea, Southeast Asia, India, and Greater China.
* Partner with North American colleagues on inbound and outbound investment flows, cross-border deal origination, and co-advisory mandates.
* Drive the strategic development of the firm's regional PUI franchise; contributing to sector positioning, thought leadership, and market intelligence.
* Recruit, develop and mentor junior and mid-level bankers to build a high-performing team culture consistent with the firm's values.
* Represent the firm externally at industry forums, conferences and client events.
The Candidate
* 15+ years of investment banking experience, with substantial tenure at Managing Director level.
* Deep, demonstrable expertise in M&A advisory within power, utilities, energy transition or infrastructure; either at a bulge bracket, elite boutique, or specialist advisory firm.
* Established deal record in the Asia Pacific region, including buy-side, sell-side, and privatisation advisory.
* Existing senior client relationships across the APAC infrastructure and energy ecosystem.
* Strong understanding of the evolving energy transition landscape, including renewables, battery storage, grids and decarbonisation themes driving M&A activity across the region.
* Entrepreneurial mindset with the confidence and credibility to build a practice within a lean, high-conviction advisory culture.
* Exceptional analytical, communication and negotiation skills; fluency in a regional language (Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Bahasa) is advantageous.
Value Add
* A genuinely differentiated advisory platform: independent, conflict-free, and trusted by the world's most sophisticated M&A clients.
* Highly competitive compensation including significant equity participation in line with the firm's partnership culture.
* The autonomy and resources to build a market-leading regional franchise with the backing of a globally recognised brand.
* A collegial, intellectually rigorous environment built on long-term client relationships and advisory excellence, not balance sheet leverage.
* Direct access to and collaboration with Senior Partners across North America, Europe, and the rest of the firm's global network.
