The role is fully remote (work from home 100%) with the ability to work from various sites in Melbourne if you would like.
The Role
Reporting to the Payroll Lead, you will play a key role within a collaborative national team, contributing to the accurate and efficient delivery of payroll services. You’ll be supported by a hands-on and knowledgeable leader who values precision, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This is a temporary role that will start immediately for 4 months, with a robust possibility for permanency for the successful candidate.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Processing end-to-end payroll across multiple business units and jurisdictions
- Ensuring all payroll activity complies with relevant awards, agreements, taxation and superannuation obligations
- Investigating and resolving complex payroll queries and discrepancies in a timely manner
- Supporting the integration and optimisation of payroll systems and workflows
- Maintaining data integrity and preparing reports to support compliance and business insight
- Collaborating with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure payroll processes are aligned and streamlined
- Assisting in system testing, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives
- Providing guidance and support to junior team members as needed
- Contributing to payroll year-end activities, including reconciliations and reporting
- Ensuring all tasks are completed in line with critical payroll deadlines and audit requirements

The Successful Candidate
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring solid experience in end-to-end payroll processing within medium to large organisations. You’re confident working with complex payroll scenarios and have a strong understanding of relevant legislation and compliance requirements.
Key Skills and Experience
- Experience in end-to-end payroll processing across multiple sites or business units
- Strong knowledge of awards, enterprise agreements, superannuation, and tax obligations
- Proficient in payroll systems and time & attendance platforms (e.g. Chris21, Preceda, SAP, Aurion, UKG etc)
- High attention to detail with strong reconciliation and reporting skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Comfortable working to strict deadlines and supporting broader P&C; and finance objectives
