Melbourne Theatre Company is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Production Operations and Compliance Manager to oversee the smooth, safe, and efficient daily operations and outcomes of our Production Departments.
Reporting to the Director of Technical & Production, this key role ensures the effective coordination of people and resources, with a strong focus on Health & Safety compliance, company procedures, and operational systems.
Working closely with Production Managers, Supervisors, Technical staff, and the People & Culture Team, the role supports safe, efficient workflows and upholds high standards across all areas of production activity.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum seven years' experience in the theatre industry, ideally in Production, Technical, or Stage Management roles.
* A high-level understanding of Health & Safety issues, legislation, policies, and Australian Standards.
* Demonstrated ability to implement and oversee safe work practices across complex production environments.
* Practical experience with set and costume design and construction, lighting, and sound.
* A hands-on, proactive management style, with maturity, warmth, and openness.
* Capacity to lead, motivate, and resolve conflict with sensitivity and patience.
* Accountability for achieving business outcomes within budget.
* Proven ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
* Strong project management skills, with a logical and analytical approach to planning and resource allocation.
* Understanding and ability to implement quality control techniques.
* Excellent time management and organisational skills, with strong deadline awareness.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
