We are partnering with a public sector organisation seeking a Payroll Officer to support the Payroll Supervisor in ensuring all staff are paid correctly, on time, and in line with company policies and legal requirements. This is an initial six-month contract based in Belmont, working full-time Monday to Friday, with hours from 8:30/9:00am to 4:30/5:00pm.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure payroll is processed in line with agreements, legislation, and policies.
* Manage end‐to‐end payroll, including employee onboarding and termination.
* Check and process payroll data accurately and on time.
* Provide advice on pay, leave entitlements, and related matters.
* Handle superannuation, salary sacrifice, and refer complex issues when needed.
* Process adjustments, leave audits, terminations, and payroll‐related payments.
* Maintain HR/payroll systems and keep employee records accurate and compliant.
* Reconcile and issue payslips, summaries, and required tax information.
* Support reporting, system maintenance, and workers compensation processes.
* Follow workplace policies (safety, conduct) and contribute to continuous improvement and other assigned duties.
Requirements
* Experience in payroll administration using a computerised system in a medium‐sized environment.
* Aurion system experience.
* Ability to interpret and apply industrial agreements.
* Knowledge of workers compensation and superannuation processes.
* Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
* Excellent organisation and time management with ability to meet deadlines.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
* Ability to work independently and in a team under pressure.
* Sound judgement, initiative, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Full Australian working rights and possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months).
