The Role in a Nutshell
As a Lead Electrical Engineer, you’ll lead a variety of projects and design teams from kick off through to commissioning. You’ll review and approve calculations, power system models, and design documents; liaise with clients and mentor the next generation of engineers to ensure projects are delivered safely with high quality, certainty, and innovative value.
What You’ll Do
* Develop, review and validate electrical designs (from concepts to feasibility, schematics, and detailed engineering)
* Perform power system studies and coordination analyses
* Participate in design review and safety workshops
* Lead site investigations and assessments
* Mentor junior engineers and participate in their professional development
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
* Produce clear reports, drawings and designs
* Develop, review and advise on commissioning and test plans, and oversee commissioning works
What You Bring
Essential
* Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) or equivalent
* 5+ years’ professional engineering experience in Australia
* Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) Status
* Proficiency in power system modelling tools (e.g. ETAP, PowerCAD, SKM) and CAD software
* Strong written/verbal communication and client-facing skills
* Familiarity with Australian electrical standards (AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 4871)
* Previous experience with minerals/mining or power/energy/renewables
* Demonstrated delivery of safe, compliant, reliable designs
Desirable
* Demonstrated performance in a design team leadership role.
* Previous experience performing at a Senior/Lead Engineer level
* Experience with BESS or solar PV approvals and commissioning
