Role Details
We're looking for a hands-on and reliable Gardener / Grounds Maintenance Operator to join our Property & Site Services team in Broken Hill. In this role, you'll help maintain Perilya's housing portfolio, recreational areas, and landscaped spaces — keeping them safe, functional, and looking their best for our workforce and community.
What You'll Be Doing
* Mowing, whipper snipping, and edging across residential and open areas including Zinc Oval and Zinc Lakes.
* Operating and maintaining equipment such as ride-on mowers, bobcats, tractors, and other grounds maintenance machinery.
* Performing landscaping and gardening tasks including planting, pruning, mulching, weeding, and irrigation checks.
* Assisting with general property upkeep such as outdoor repairs, waste removal, and maintenance of shared spaces.
* Monitoring and maintaining irrigation systems, reporting any faults or performing minor repairs.
* Keeping accurate records of work completed, machinery maintenance, and schedules.
* Working collaboratively within the Property & Site Services team to maintain consistent presentation standards.
* Ensuring all work is completed safely and in accordance with company WHS and environmental standards.
What You Will Bring
You're someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys being outdoors. You'll be proactive, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
To be successful, you'll have:
* Experience in groundskeeping, landscape gardening, or property maintenance.
* Proficiency in using ride-on mowers, bobcats, and other outdoor maintenance machinery.
* A current driver's licence (minimum C class).
* A commitment to safe work practices and WHS compliance.
* A willingness to obtain a Heavy Rigid (HR) licence within six months of employment.
* Basic understanding of irrigation systems and water management.
Desirable:
* Certificate II or III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, or equivalent experience.
* Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation.
* A positive, reliable attitude and willingness to support broader site maintenance activities.
