**Welcome to Watco Australia**

Watco is a family-based business first established in 1983 in Pittsburg, Kansas with strong roots tied to 'Customer First' Foundation Principles. Watco Australia operates rail services throughout Australia, providing container and bulk transportation solutions for customers in the grain, agriculture, livestock, rail infrastructure, minerals and steel manufacturing industries.

**The Position**

Watco Australia is a dynamic organisation, we currently have an opening for a Safety and Compliance Manager to join our team. The position is very autonomous and will have mínimal direct day to day supervision, requiring the incumbent to be highly self-motivated, disciplined and self-directed. This position is full time and will be based in our head office in West Perth, WA.

**What you will be doing**

**You will need the ability to**
- Possess a high level of communication to drive a proactive implementation and continual improvement of the Watco Australia Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
- Possess an enterprise level of safety knowledge and sufficient experience of safety and safety/risk management legislation, processes and systems to ensure organisation wide safety goals are met or exceeded
- Effectively communicate instructions, directions, processes, procedures, safety rules and regulations to co-workers, supervisors, managers and others in written, oral, diagrammatic and schedule form
- Incentivise and train personnel to perform job safety related duties; and to provide training related to WHS and company regulations, rules, and safety guidelines
- Make independent judgments using sound reasoning skills and knowledge base
- Possess a current class C or above drivers licence
- Possess Knowledge of the Rail Safety National Law and its practical implementation in the workplace
- Possess Basic knowledge and understanding of Workers compensation and Injury Management
- Analyse safety data and statistics to develop and present KPI reports to the Senior Management team

**What you will bring**
- Minimum of Cert IV WHS or equivalent relevant qualification or demonstrable industry experience
- Tertiary qualifications in WHS/OHS is preferred and will be an advantage
- 5 years WHS/OHS experience in an operational rail environment or similar highly regulated industry
- Lead Auditor Qualifications and experience
- Lead Incident investigator - ICAM
- An understanding of railway operations (desired)
