This role supports an internal communications platform used by a major Federal Government Agency. The Intranet Officer maintains the intranet, improves content, and helps staff use digital tools with confidence. The work supports internal communication, staff experience, and organisational change.
Your new role
As an APS5 Intranet Officer, you will be part of the team responsible for maintaining and improving the agency's intranet during a period of significant redevelopment.Your role will include:
• Publishing, editing and maintaining intranet content in SharePoint Online
• Ensuring content meets accessibility standards and plain‐English guidelines
• Supporting staff across the agency to use the intranet by providing guidance, training and troubleshooting
• Managing service desk requests, resolving issues or triaging them to the right team member
• Working with the internal communications team on content planning, updates and improvements
• Monitoring intranet usage and preparing reports to support decision-making
• Reviewing user behaviour and identifying opportunities to improve navigation, structure, or content experience
• Assisting with the redevelopment project including testing, documentation and change activities
• Advising business areas on content structure, accessibility and best practice communication
• Supporting the team with administrative and technical tasks as required
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will bring:• Experience working with SharePoint, ideally SharePoint Online
• Clear communication skills and the ability to explain digital concepts simply
• Experience managing or improving intranet content
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with guidelines and standards
• Ability to work with stakeholders at different levels
• Confidence in handling multiple tasks while meeting deadlines
Desirable skills include:
• Content writing and content analysis
• Understanding of accessibility requirements
• Experience using Jira
• Project or change management exposure
• Understanding of user experience principles
