The Program
The Accommodation Centre provides a welcoming home away from home for people traveling from rural and remote areas to receive medical treatment at Rockhampton Hospital. It offers accommodation and Medical Equipment Hire services, reflecting the Red Cross wellbeing model of openness, welcome, and homeliness, mirroring health and recovery.
The Opportunity
Applicants should have excellent communication skills to interact with a diverse community, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Demonstrated time management and organisational skills, proficiency in MS Office (particularly MS Excel), and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team are essential. Flexibility and reliability to handle various tasks are also important.
Red Cross provides training, ongoing support, and access to numerous opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.
The Impact
Volunteers help those traveling for medical treatment feel at home and support their recovery through listening, empathising, and offering a friendly voice. This role offers the chance to learn from diverse backgrounds and to give back to the community.
