Lurnea High School is a comprehensive, co‐educational secondary school located in the city of Liverpool. The school serves a diverse community of learners with 84% of students having a language background other than English, of whom 40% require EAL/D support. There are 715 students including 32 students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.
The school has a Support Unit of 101 placements for students with mild, moderate intellectual delays and autism. An Intensive English Centre (IEC) caters for newly arrived migrant and refugee students, numbering between 85 and 120 annually.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria
* Capacity to lead and manage a large faculty, including leadership of the full range of PE, Health and Sport curriculum, and the capacity to advance equal participation and inclusion for all students.
* An awareness and understanding of working in a complex setting inclusive of students from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds and experiences, and the capacity to establish effective partnerships with colleagues, parents and the broader community to achieve improved learning outcomes for all students.
* Demonstrated ability to contribute to the executive team and operate at a whole‐school level to effectively implement the vision for the school as articulated in the School Excellence Plan.
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well‐developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.
