This role will support number of projects underway, from early strategic study phase through project development and execution. The area that the successful candidate will be providing overview and expertise for is in the bulk solids handling portion of Iron ore, bauxite, petroleum coke and base metals for crushing screening, conveying and stockyard operations.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s bulk solids handling aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of bulk solids handling components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s mechanical aspects are met.
"This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”
Major Responsibilities:
o Plans and conducts independent scope of work and technical specificationsfor mechanical design and field investigations on large sizeprojects or assignments in support of a global business unit
o Leads the design, development, modification and evaluation of bulk solids handling components andprocesses utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), designstandards and guides, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)
o Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to uppermanagement
o Develops conceptual designs for bulk solids handling engineering projects or projects havingspecialized or unique requirements
o Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules
o Interviews client personnel to determine their needs, develops scope for cost estimates for servicesand participates in proposal preparation and presentation
o Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan inaccordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and supportsimplementation and assists with performance reporting
o Interprets new or special regulations, codes, standards, criteria, and performancedata
o Conducts or leads special studies of new engineering methods, materialsand techniques
o Mentors engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for theirprofessional development. Provides input to and participates in special technical educational and trainingprograms as directed
Education and Experience Requirements:
o Requires a bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience in the field of bulk solids handling design and / or field implementation
Required Knowledge and Skills:
o The successful applicant will have experience with the use of a relevant software packages for conveyor, crusher and screen design and selection
o Experience with commissioning and / or maintenance of crushing, screening and conveying systems.
o Experience in the design, construction, commissioning, operations and maintenance of stockyard and port rail mounted machines will be well regarded.
o It is anticipated that the successful applicant will have, experience in a client facing role, has leadership experience with small to medium sized teams and can express solutions in a clear manner.
