* Ongoing Full-Time
* Location: Eveleigh with flexible working arrangements available across NSW Department of Education offices.
* A talent pool may be created through this recruitment process to fill anticipated vacancies over the next 18 months
* Competitive remuneration ranging from $113,574 to $125,720 plus super & annual leave loading.





The GIS Analyst acts as a technical advisor and SME, delivering high-quality geospatial data, mapping, and spatial analysis to support informed decision-making and timely service within School Infrastructure applications, including Asset Management.



They develop methodologies for sourcing, processing, integrating, and analysing geospatial data, derive insights through spatial modelling, and produce analytical maps, web maps, and dashboards. They identify system gaps, champion automation and self-service, and provide governance reporting on system health, service trends, and major risks, translating metrics like MTTR and incident volume into actionable insights.



They design robust workflows and automation scripts, offer guided geospatial input for projects, and collaborate to develop spatial information products, while providing multi-application technical support, serving as an escalation point, and leading as the SME for the core GIS suite with meticulous data and output management.

About you

* Experience in the use of GIS software, SQL database querying, reporting and integration.
* Strong proficiency in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and applying spatial data to solve problems.
* Proven experience in eliciting requirements and translating them into spatial solutions.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills; capable of guiding projects and working with cross-functional teams.
* Detail oriented with focus on data quality and outputs.
* Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.



Essential requirements of the role

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Systems or a related field and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
* Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education.

* Provide details in how you would design and implement robust workflows and automation scripts for spatial data processing, indicating application used and provide an example where you have implemented a workflow and automation (E.g. Loading of school assets form CAD data into the Department spatial module including coordinates change) (max 500 words)
* Provide details in how you would derive data from location driven overlapping datasets and provide an example where you have derived data through this type of process (E.g. Adding temperature data to Schools records from recorded national temperature data from the Bureau of Meteorology – BOM as a remote sensing dataset, which have values (data) associated with each grid-cell representing a meteorological element such as rainfall or temperature. (max 500 words)

Renewal is not required after the WWCC expires, as long as you remain in a non–child-related role. Employer obligations only apply while the WWCC is valid.
