The Sovereign Hill Museums Association is a not-for profit community-based organisation that includes: Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum, Sovereign Hill Hotel, AURA and Narmbool, the Australian Centre for Rare Trades and Arts and the Australian Centre for Gold Rush Collections. It cares for a nationally and internationally significant collection of over 150,000 objects and protects the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the Victorian gold rush.
We are an Australian tourism icon that attracts some 500,000 visitors annually. The Outdoor Museum is internationally renowned as a living museum featuring rare trades, and programs and experiences that interpret a pivotal point in Australia's history. In all, some 350 staff work to bring our gold-rush story to life. They are supported by over 250 volunteers.
About the Role -
To entertain, inform, and
engage visitors through the delivery of thematic tours and hosted experiences
across the Sovereign Hill Outdoor Museum. This role includes greeting groups at the front entrance and guiding them
through their packaged journey, which may include chaperoning and coordinating
activities, as well as translating demonstrations, ensuring a culturally
welcoming, seamless, and enriching experience.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Greet non-English-speaking groups at the front entrance in costume
* Host non English-speaking groups throughout their packaged tour, from start to finish, ensuring they are well cared for and are guided through their packaged itinerary
* Translate
demonstrations and tours as required by the packaged experience
* Follow the seasonal and zoned programming model to deliver tours and activities in the Diggings, Main St, Speedwell, and Top of the Hill zones in English, or a second language as required
* Provide clear, interesting, accurate tours of the underground mine environment
* Provide relevant safety briefings for each tour
Desired Qualifications
* A Certificate or Diploma in Tourism and/or
Guiding will be highly regarded
