We have a team of dedicated Psychiatrists, Medical, Nursing, Allied and Administrative staff who provide expert care in the management and treatment of all acute mental health disorders.
About the Role
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Cleaning Supervisor to join our Environmental Services team in a full-time, hands-on role. Reporting directly to the Hospital Services Manager, this position is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility while also supervising a small team of cleaning staff. This is a physical role that includes daily cleaning duties as well as supervisory responsibilities such as task delegation, mentoring, and supporting team performance.
We are seeking someone with a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to a dynamic hospital environment. Availability to work evenings and weekends is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform daily cleaning duties across patient rooms, clinical areas, and public spaces to the highest hygiene and infection control standards.
* Supervise and support the cleaning team, including scheduling, task allocation, and monitoring work quality.
* Assist with training new staff and ensuring adherence to hospital cleaning protocols.
* Liaise with other departments to ensure cleaning standards meet clinical and operational needs.
* Maintain stock levels and report equipment or maintenance issues.
* Uphold safety and infection control standards at all times.
Essential Criteria
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory role, ideally in a healthcare or hospitality environment.
* Extensive cleaning knowledge and a strong understanding of infection control practices.
* Ability to lead by example, work hands-on, and support team members in day-to-day operations.
* Strong time management and organisational skills.
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
* Reliable and physically able to meet the demands of a busy cleaning role.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to confidentiality, privacy, and professional conduct.
* Availability to work across a rotating roster, including weekends and evenings.
Desirable Criteria
* Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare setting
* A positive and professional customer service approach
* Ability to follow policies, procedures, and cleaning protocols precisely
* Familiarity with using cleaning machinery and products safely
Vaccination Preventable Disease:
* It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment:
* Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
* Varicella (chicken pox)
* Pertussis (whooping cough), Diphtheria and Tetanus
* Hepatitis B
You must be able to provide serology evidence and a VPD form for the above-mentioned vaccinations and will be asked by the recruiting manager to supply this evidence if you are the preferred candidate for the role. Please note you are not susceptible to the VPD's listed in the role description.
